File transferring software and clients have been available for a long time, and yet one can’t help but wonder about the mechanics that make it work.

How file transfer works

The process is similar to how a file transfer protocol (FTP) between two computers work, which involves files being moved from one place to another over either an internet connection or locally through cable. But with an Android file transfer, things work a little differently due to the use of a client or other software to move files around.

These programs simply require a connection to the phone via the cable attached to the USB port on the PC or online if the client has the functionality to do so. Once the connection had been established, the client will then detect that the phone is connected.

And once it’s done, it’s all a matter of browsing through the folders and dragging and dropping files, just like moving files from one folder to another on a desktop PC.

Besides letting you transfer music and video from between your phone and PC import and export text messages, photos, contact numbers, voice mails, or browser history. Other apps software will feature a browser that lets you look through your phone’s contents like a regular file browser would. And lastly, if you are using iTunes, then some file transfer software can let you access the backups on iTunes.
